Juneteenth . . . It’s a Celebration !!!

June 19, 1865 is an important day for all my Melanin Queens, Kings, Princesses, and Princes. JUNETEENTH is the true INDEPENDENCE DAY 4 our people and truthfully the one that we should celebrate. Instead of the BBQ s and new clothes and hairdo’s for the 4th of July, we need to be doing that for this day.

The emancipation proclamation was signed in 1863, but our ancestors were not legally free until June 19, 1865. TWO whole years later, that is sad. This is the type of information that should be in the history books for everyone to know. This day like the 4th of July for the white man, because at that time that group of people were the only ones with any kind rights; should be discussed in the lesson plans at school. Black History as it is called at schools should never be designated to just one month. If it was apart of history in general at our schools and everywhere, there would be no need for a month in particular. The important days in history for white America is celebrated throughout the year. All I’m saying is, it is about time that all races, cultures and whatever ethnicity your identify as are celebrated in America which is a melting pot everyone all over the world is apart of this country. It is about time that White America accepts that, and we all celebrate the important dates in our history on the days that occurred. I am not trying to do anything other than shed some light and drop a little knowledge on Juneteenth and what it is about.

Juneteenth used to be a holiday that my ancestors celebrated and I am so happy that more people are celebrating it now. When you know better, you do better. Juneteenth is what some know as the oldest celebration honoring the end of slavery in the United States of America. The legal freeing of the slaves caused a big issue to the white man of America. When the slaves officially became free, well legally the white man began to take part in horrendous things, even more than they already were doing. The killings, lynching’s, and horrible treatment of my ancestors got so much worst. Eventually the Jim Crow Laws were brought into existence. Through all that BS Juneteenth was celebrated less and less, that is sad. But the fight to freedom, true freedom continued and so many wonderful things came out of it. That is one thing that I love about my ancestors, they were fighters, conquerors, they were tenacious, and they never gave up the fight. It is because of my ancestors that we have some of the freedoms that we have today. That is something that we need to celebrate forever and always. Since the schools do not educate our children about their history it is our responsibility to do so. We have to make sure our children know the importance of our history, and of all history. White America has to understand that teaching all history can help bring us all together where we can live in UNITY as 1 HUMAN RACE.

Juneteenth is supposed to be a celebration with festivities, food, laughter, and fun. Juneteenth also is a time to focus on self-improvement and education. In this blog post I vow to have a big Juneteenth celebration in my community in 2020. This will come to fruition . . . you can bet on that.

HAPPY JUNETEENTH !!!
